Farinaz Afsari PhD

I am a Biochemist and Molecular Cell Biologist with an excellent background in Cell Signalling field of study. I have done extensive research in bone, cartilage, cardiomyocytes, stem cell and neurons for number of years and I am highly skilled in many advanced biological techniques such as Confocal and Electron Microscope, Flow cytometry, 3D Cell Culture, Drosophila Genetics and I am familiar with Matlab and Mathworks.
I am very interested in application of stem cell treatments for neurodegenarative disease and I am looking for more advanced and innovative technology to facilitate this procedure.

I have done my BSc (Hons) degree in Biochemistry and I always found performing experiments in the Chemistry Laboratory at UOY really interesting and rewarding. There, I have learned how to essentially conduct precise and accurate experimenal works. These skills were conveyed to my PhD and Postdoctoral research work and led to obtaining a very successful PhD in Molecular Medicine at The University of Edinburgh and as a consequence several productive postdoctoral fellowships in Cardiovascular Diseases at The University of Cincinnati and Stem Cell and Parkinson's Disease at The University of York.
I am highly skilled in cell culture techniques and have worked on Glia, Bone, Chondrocytes, Cardiomyocytes and Mesenchymal Stem Cells. I am also very experienced in performing 2D and 3D cell culture in stem cells.
